What we’re about
Blockbusters? Indie? Cult? You can get those anywhere.
This is the group for movies so bad they're good.
The weird, the bizarre, the horrible acting, the ridiculous concepts, the non-work-safe hilarity. Most people are just uncomfortable watching them, but for whatever reason they tickle the suitably twisted sense of humor.
Would you watch a movie called Jesus Christ Vampire Hunter, because a movie with that title must be awesome? Does your list of cinematic classics include things like Barbarella, Zardoz, and RoboGeisha?
Does a one star Netflix rating intrigue you? Well, if you're 21+ years old and have read and agree to the terms of our Release of Liability statement, then sign up, because this group is for getting together at someone's place and watching movies like that, and many others that are much more obscure.

Here is another opportunity to take up a hobby. You could cut up small pieces of paper and glue them to your head or make a hat by sewing a bunch of old socks together. Perhaps you are still thinking about making vegan owl pellets out of dyer lint. If you are out of ideas, you could always watch these movies while pretending to be asleep.
Lake Placid 2
(2007 - 1h 28min - R - IMDb 3.2 - TubiTV )
Man-eating crocodiles return to the lake, as two males and one aggressive female crocodile protecting their nest wreak havoc on the locals. - IMDb
Lake Placid 2 is a 2007 American made-for-television comedy horror film directed by David Flores. It is a sequel to Lake Placid (1999) and the second installment in the Lake Placid film series, telling the story of man-eating crocodiles who terrorize the local community. The film premiered on April 28, 2007 on the Sci-Fi Channel and was released direct to video on January 29, 2008. - WikipediaHigh Moon (aka Howlers)
(2019 - NR - 1h 32min - IMDb 4.2 - TubiTV)
A gunfighter from the old west returns from the grave to stop a blood thirsty werewolf motorcycle gang from terrorizing a small town. Wikipedia doesn’t seem to know about this movie. Reviews on IMDb and Rotten Tomatoes are also mixed for this one (there are 2 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes). Some people REALLY love the idea of a gunfighter waking up in the modern world to learn about ‘riding trucks’ and fighting biker werewolves. This movie also stars Sean Patric Flanery. Yee howl! Some useless facts...
- If you are wondering what these two movies have in common, look no further than Chad Michael Collins. He plays a teenage son of a sheriff in ‘Lake Placid 2’ and a displaced gunfighter/werewolf slayer in ‘High Moon’.
- Cloris Leachman makes an appearance in Lake Placid 2 (but not in High Moon). She plays the role of Sadie Bickerman (the sister of Delores Bickerman who was played by Betty White in the original Lake Placid film).
- John Schneider (originally of ‘Dukes of Hazzard’) plays the sheriff in Lake Placid 2.Films selected by Jen; virtual hosting by JenB and Boris
We’ll be opening the session early so people can schmooze before the movie starts.
6:30: Anti-Social Hour (session opens)
7:00: Anti-Social Movies (movies begin)
Join us from the discomfort of your own home for another virtual bad movie night. All you need is a computer with Internet access, a microphone so you can join in on the riffing, and a SET OF HEADPHONES OR EAR BUDS. The Zoom link to this event will be emailed noon-ish (or after RSVP closing time) on the day of the event. For security reasons, this will be a new link, not one used for any previous events.
The session will go live at 6:30pm. After everyone joins, We'll post another link in the Zoom session which people can use to stream the movies from Caracal. That way everyone will be streaming the movies directly and latency should be minimal.
IMPORTANT:
- Be sure your Meetup settings are correct or you won’t receive the link even if you’ve RSVPed. Click on your profile picture in the upper right of the screen, then click Settings > Email Updates. Under Updates about your groups, click Bad Movie Night > Edit. Make sure the proper boxes are checked for you to receive emails and messages.
- Please listen using HEADPHONE OR EAR BUDS in order to reduce echo on the call. (If you’re watching with someone else, one of you can connect via a mobile device just for the audio.) Sorry, but we will actually mute people if they’re not using headphones or ear buds. :-(
- For Caracal, Chrome seems to be the most recommended browser. Unless you’re on a Mac, in which case maybe Safari. We’re still experimenting with this.
