CAGE

That's right folks: CAGE. No...not NICK CAGE ... that's another can of worms.

In case you didn't know, this is THE movie that turned the "women in caged death match" genre upside down and made it two muscled men -- played by none other than master thespians Reb Brown and Lou Ferrigno -- in a caged death match.

Brilliant.

But please, don't take my word for it.

According to "A Customer" from Amazon, who gave it five stars  ...

"This was one of the best films of 1989. It's a powerful story of everlasting and unconditional friendship. Lou Ferrigno gives an awe-inspiring performance as Billy Thomas, a Vietnam veteran with a mental disability. Reb Brown plays Scott Monroe, also a Vietnam vet and Billy's best friend. Billy gets abducted and tricked into cage-fighting, and Scott must find and rescue him from the clutches of the Chinese mafia. This treasure is a must see for action movie fans!"

'NAaaaaM, man....'Naaaaaam

WARNING: The subject matter is heavy. You WILL witness two grown men cry. If this is too much for you to bare, you may want to skip this one.

Oh, one more thing, it looks like this movie has experienced a bit of a resurgence as of late because it is sold out on Amazon. I have it on order, but please note that the feature may change to Reb Brown's "Captain America" should I not get this on time.

Don't worry: I have Amazon Prime.

Diane's notes:

Potluck, social hour starts at 7PM.  I plan on serving Vietnamese Summer Rolls, and there's a good chance my apricot tree will provide pickings for us too.  Movie starts around 8PMDessert is served after the movie. I plan to make blueberry muffins--nothing to do with the movie, but just because blueberries are in season (then again, if you squint, a blueberry muffin can look like a head that's been traumatized--maybe I'll even cool them upside down on wire racks to give them a traumatized-in-a-cage-match look).  Remember to bring your drink already chilled if you want it cold.

Theater renovation is on hold for an undetermined amount of time. This stopping point is at a place where not every seat will work for anyone. Instead of trying to move you all into the best seats for you when we'll be moving around in a tight place, I'd like to attempt reserved seating. Here's the seating chart:

Rows A and C are best for taller folks. Row D is best for the near-sighted, and requires extreme slouching to view the screen & to avoid obscuring Row C folks' view. Please choose a seat further from the kitchen door if you have no problem sitting through an entire movie without needing to use the facilities or get another drink. Seats o1, o2, & o3 won't be placed out if the attendee count is less than 15 when I setup, but if you really, really want one of those seats, you can change my mind by giving me a good reason or bribe. To reserve your seat, REPLY to the "Reserve your seat here" post in the comments. Please don't start a new comment to reserve your seat; I want it to be easy for everyone to see what seat is already taken & that is only possible if the posts are in the same location. If someone selects the seat you'd like, but posted the preference in a new comment (ie didn't follow directions), you're welcome to reserve that seat by making the request correctly.  And, yes, I do think this will be less hassle than taking care of it the night of the event.
