Hi all:

I wish I could make the meetup next week ... but I'm in an ultimate frisbee league on Mon/Wed.

Just a question though - I'm trying to figure out the best way to feature either a page/post on our site (www.benedictinewomen.org). For example, right now I'd like to feature upcoming Holy Week services.

I'm hoping it wouldn't be too tacky. I don't think a popup is what I am looking for. I looked into Hello Bar (www.hellobar.com) but I thought that looks too much like an ad. I thought about doing straight HTML in one of the sidebars but I thought there would be something easier for other users to adapt to.

Someone at the last meetup suggested I use some plugin that can show a different prayer each day. I'd be interested in that (Sorry, I can't remember who suggested it). Something like this might actually be the solution - maybe some days we would feature links to featured pages/posts, and other days we'd have something for people to meditate on.

peace, Mike

Hi, Mike!

You could use http://wordpress.org/... or http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/advanced-featured-post-widget/ to feature a post in your sidebar or other widget area.

Additionally, you could add a widget area/"sidebar" above your front page content, as described here: http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/08/sidebars-in-wordpress

Give a shout if this isn't what you had in mind, or if you have a question!

Also, if you look under Publish => Visibility => Edit, you will find a check box to "Stick this post to the front page," which will let you publish new posts without displacing the post from the top of the page.
