Full Moon Bicycle Ride

It is time again for the Full Moon Bike Ride & BBQ. Join the Bike Bakersfield organization for BBQ in Beach Park at 6pm and/or the Full Moon Ride at 8pm. The food is served at 6 and donations are requested for the BBQ. There is of course a full moon ride every 29 or 30 and we have missed some. May is Bike Month. The weather is perfect for riding and gathering socially. The longer days and later start time make the ride accessible to more people. I had to rush for the 6 pm start time but will have no problem being a bit late this month :) At 8 pm we be joining what should be a large group of riders from Beach Park to the Marketplace at a pace of around 10-12 miles per hour. The ride out is organized and kept together as much as possible. Once a the Marketplace riders enjoy the fountain, shops, and restaurants. Our group meets at Me & Eds Pizza (or Lengthwise?) for beer and/or food if you would like to eat there. The ride back to the Beach Park (or home) is in small, unsupported groups, or on your own. Lights, helmets and locks are recommended.

I’ll be wearing my characteristic yellow jersey and riding my red bike. We’ll meet on the bike path near the water fountain 7:45 (if not sooner) and gather again at the Marketplace for a drink and conversation. Hope to see you there.

We are not doing the BBQ, but we will be on the GREEN TANDEM Bike on the walkway at Beach Park that ramps up to the bike path. Since Tony's yellow shirt wont be there, new people can look for us. We'll be there just before 8.

Heading to Paso Robles for The Great Western Bike Rally today through Monday. Sorry I have to miss this one. I'll be riding all weekend, including a Century on Sunday. "So many rides, so little time." http://www.greatwesternbicyclerally.com

I'm going to try biking to work for the first time. I'll head over to the park after 7pm. Peter will join me from Westwind. Save some BBQ for us!

I feel hurt when people use derogatory (or racist or sexist) words because putting people down is so unnecessary. I need to take a stand against this kind of language because I am an anti-bullying educator, the sister of a gay person, and a thoughtful human being. While everyone does have his/her own opinions (and I respect that), as the founder of this Meet Up group I am asking each member not to use derogatory language on this site. Thank you for your cooperation. The bike ride is supposed to be a fun event. Let's not continue to be distracted by this issue.

Is the actual ride from Beach park at 7:45 to the marketplace? Then after that to eat/drink and either back to Beach Park or head home?

Many of us in the Meet Up Group head home after the Market Place, but there are people from Bike Baks (the larger group) who ride back. Jane, maybe try to plan on heading home after the Market Place unless someone volunteers to ride back with you. My husband and I live near the MarketPlace and my friend drives to the Market Place, so we start and end there. I hope Tony and I have given you some perspective here.

Bill and I plan to meet you at 7:45 at Beach Park and ride home after MarketPlace.

Bill and I will probably ride out to Beach Park by 7:45, go to Market Place for a Blue Moon (-: and then ride home from the Market Place.
