It was great to meet you all and I hope you walked away with a curiosity to know and challenge what's in your food and what you put in and on your body!

...AND thank you to Wendy, Trish and Amir for their great insight and discussion. I love to take up all sides of an issue, and this got Doug, Bill and I actively involved. Thank you.

Thank you Patsy. We really enjoyed the movie, and the food was great. I thought the food would be very plain, but it was delicious. It was interesting to hear everyone's stories, too.

I'm still not going vegan, but we want to have healthy meatless Mondays, or Tuesdays. Thanks for the info. I still like my soups with chicken broth, too, so I'm trying out a vegan veg broth at potluck. See u Thursday.

Wait a minute... How can Oreos be vegan if white flour and white sugar are in them? Okay, I can understand the white sugar and the bones thing, but there are no animal products in white flour. I'm confused, and I guess I have a lot of learn! Please comment so I know how to make the bread I was planning on bringing!

Great question! I googled "Are Oreo cookies vegan". The article is perfect! It states that they are vegan, however, they are made with white sugar. White sugar is NOT vegan. Anything bleaches white is done with bone char which is not vegan. So, I have learned to try not to scare non vegans away from starting a vegan lifestyle with everything on the first day. It is important to make a choice to go cold turkey or take small steps. The knowledge of what is actually in our food can be highly overwhelming to a newbie. For another example, conventional tomatoes are genetically modified with fish DNA. Yuck! Everyone should be given the tools to seek their own learning, go vegan, switch to organic, go crazy and sign up for PETA and go raw! It's important to make change, even small changes have an impact on our environment and especially our health. I am a mild fanatic, so ask me anything that isn't clear or on google ;)

Yes! "We use no animal by-products when making our Tennessee Whiskey, so it's perfectly OK for vegetarians to enjoy."

However, anything white is not, wine, white sugar, white flour . . .

I'm not sure if we can make it. I have a work event I already committed to attend that evening. I need to check the specific times.
re: gluten-free potluck, I'd LOVE to do one. I just need to fit it into my schedule.

Okay, I'm bringing vegan lentil soup with homemade vegan crusty bread if jury duty doesn't run late into baking time.

Maybe Julia and Peter or Tony and Myna will host a gluten free potluck. :D

No, 100% animal free, you still need to follow gluten free rules.

Hi, I'm a vegan of 8 years both in food and lifestyle. I'm looking forward to this meeting, please let me know if I can help in any way ;). Also, if you want to do a demo I have every kitchen gadget imaginable and have a pretty narrow list of authors and phenomenal websites and FB pages that I live by.
