This group is for people who want to try a new workout and have a fun hour of fitness! If you want to get stronger, more flexible, like working out to great music, and like to laugh while you workout then this is the group for you!

Ballet Fitness is an hour long class which uses a series of resistance band and simple ballet exercises to strengthen and stretch target areas such as arms, gluteus, legs, general core and specific abdominals. While it is based in ballet it is easy for someone with no previous training to pick up and enjoy. Special attention is paid to proper body mechanics to keep our bodies working at their best and to work around any personal limitations that might exist. There are many options so you can make your workout as hard or comfortable as you need that day.

Alison has been a professional ballet instructor for over 13 years in NYC and Seattle, Wa. To create her Ballet Fitness Class, Alison combined several techniques accumulated through her years as a dancer from various teachers, exercise forums, and Physical Therapists. Originally she designed this class to aide dancers in injury prevention and whole body strengthening yet found along the way that non-dancers love the class as well. Some of the benefits of this workout are:

Tones and stretches creating long lean muscles of a ballet dancer
Aides in a balanced body, full body workout
Increases strength and flexibility to support your other activities
Easy on joint, very low impact
Aides in creating good posture and balance
Fun relaxed atmosphere
No ballet experienced needed

Since there is no actual dancing in this class no one need fear their “two left feet”. So, grab a mat or towel and come join us sweating and laughing!

Want to attend?

Class will consist of a gentle warm up, simple ballet barre portion, resistance band exercises to strengthen arms, legs, and abs-all done to fun music to keep us motivated. We end the class with a nice long stretch to relax and lengthen. Hope you can join us! No special shoes etc needed. Clothing that you can move in comfortably and bare feet or socks are great. I would recommend that you bring a yoga mat or soft towel as there is floor work.
