Downton Abbey Costumes - The Winterthur Museum in Delaware is sponsoring an exhibit of Downton Abbey costumes, from March 1st through the end of 2014. While not steampunk per se, still looks like an excellent opportunity to get up close and personal with some excellent costuming and perhaps find inspiration?

Did anyone else manage to get to Delaware on Saturday? Ben and I never came across anyone from the group. We were at the museum and took the 10 a.m. tour of the costumes. They had some accessories, too (traveling trunk, shoeshine kit, clothes brushes). It was a very nice exhibit and of course they were selling swag. :)

This would be a nice event later in the spring when the gardens are in bloom. We took the house tour but did not go on the garden tour.

Ian and I did not, though I'm really hoping to get up there soon. The hip just wasn't up for the long drive and walking around yet - though it's feeling better each day. Glad to hear the exhibit was good, though sorry to hear you weren't able to link up. :( This seems to be a recurring challenge when I come up with ideas for external events.

It's inevitable, I think, especially if it's somewhere no one has been. I'm going to try to get some pics up on my blog this weekend.

Sundays are out for us because we have to get up disgustingly early for work on Mondays. :( I'm still up for this coming weekend.

The website says that nonmembers need to purchase timed tickets for entry into the Costumes of Downton Abbey exhibit, so let's should try to co-ordinate by Wednesday night on who is going and what times we'd like to view the exhibit. Of course, we could all go to the exhibit at separate times and meet for lunch, but it might be more fun to see it together.

Sorry for not being more help here - I'm still iffy, myself. I had hip surgery on March 21st (planned the DC Steampunks event so far in advance, it was even before my surgery), and so I'm not 100% sure I'll be in shape for a long drive and lots of walking around. I really do want to go though! For now, plan on your tickets and I will update Friday with whether I'm in good travel shape or not. Otherwise, hope to see you guys soon - it's been ages!

Yikes, that sounds pretty heavy-duty, Jenn. I hope you're feeling better.

I've gotten advance tickets for the 10 o'clock showing. The museum opens at 10, so for anyone who's going, let's meet at the front doors. I'm going to try to be there at least 10 minutes early.

I'd like to propose a 10:00 a.m. tour time for our group. The tour runs for two hours and that way we can be finished and have lunch together and the afternoon will be free.

I'm planning to purchase tickets in advance and if I don't hear any counter proposals by Thursday night for other time slots I'm going to commit to 10.

Since we've had a couple requests to maybe switch date - and right now it's only Karen and I going - what date would work better for people? Would Sunday be better, or the next weekend?

Gah. It's looking more and more like I'll be stuck working all next weekend. I'm going to have to plan a trip later on in the spring or summer.
