Technique and theory should work together like two hands. Today we will look at how each astrologer can develop a style of ‘reading’ suitable for his or her own gifts and vision of astrology and how to continue cultivating the theoretical base for that.
Together we will work on some specific charts and pay attention to how we are bringing theory (theoria) and technique to bear as we move through the process of interpretation.
With the Grand Cross forming in the Cardinal signs, we will check out our approach to see whether we are really cooking on all four burners, leaning on all four elements and all four functions (feeling, thinking, intuition and sensing) in our approach to the chart.
Among the questions we will consider are:
Given that so many new techniques and chart factors are continually being introduced into the field, how do we decide which ones to take on board and where to apply them?
What about proportion, scale, and boundaries: How much interpretation is needed in a given situation?
How can the astrologer take on the right level of ego responsibility for interpretations, yet keep his or her own ego needs from getting in the way of the client’s needs?
Bring your own “toolkit” of theory and technique, the questions you are working on, and any charts you would like to share.
