Dear Jeff,

Action Alert: Stop the passage of the Boys Scouts Commemorative Coin

The Boy Scouts of America is an organization that explicity discriminates against nontheists (as well as gays) in admission, employment, and even volunteer opportunities. The House of Representatives just passed legislation that would issue the Boy Scouts a commemorative coin that they will sell for a fee that would generate up to $3.5 million in revenue for their organization.

The Secular Coalition for America is actively meeting with Senators to convince them that allowing a commemorative coin to be created in honor of the Boy Scouts not only demonstrates that Congress agrees with the religious discrimination practices of the Boy Scouts, but moreover, wants to financially assist an organization in carrying out a philosophy that vilifies those without a god-belief.

If you have a moment to send a message to the Senators from your state asking them to oppose this legislation, we would greatly appreciate it. Please click one of the links in this message to find out how to take action, and thank you again for supporting the Secular Coalition for America and our mission.

Action Alert: Stop the passage of the Boys Scouts Commemorative Coin

Best wishes,

The Secular Coalition for America is the national lobby for atheists, humanists, freethinkers, and other nontheistic Americans. From our office in the nation's capital, our lobbyists and support staff engage public policy makers and the media on issues ranging from religion's influence on education and medical research to the privileging of faith groups by government. We are the first and only cooperative venture of nine member organizations coming together to improve the political situation of a previously unrepresented constituency: the tens of millions of atheists and agnostics in the United States.
