I too have been to CC.  I found it to be too loud, even during non night club hours, for meeting purposes.  Besides, what does "  This is from personal experience and, not from some some non-deity belief system.".  mean?

Skydivers don't knock on death's door, they ring the bell and run away...It REALLY pisses him off.

Just to clarify something for sake of accuracy of your first point. Nightclubs are only nite clubs at night. They do offer a lot of sitting space and often do not have loud music when it isn't at night. This is from personal experience and, not from some some non-deity belief system. Point two is valid. Driving to and from these venues could be a difficulty.

COSI: a restaurant....find it on the internet.
COSI?  Please identify.

As to Cancun Cantina, I am ruling them out based on two criteria:
1.  They are primarily a nightclub and as such will likely be LOUD and not likely to have AV hook ups.
2.  They are not in the Ellicott city/columbia are.  Although it is my plan to expand meetups to that area, right now Columbia/Ellicott City is where most of us are.

The library idea didn't catch on so here are some more ideas. Cancun Cantina not far from BWI: They have a large outdoor deck that is perfect when the whether is nice. On Friday afternoons, they have 25 cent buffet.  During the Spring, we could use it on the weekend during midday. As the weather gets warmer, we can use it in the late afternoon when it is cool.

Panera or COSI are located in Columbia on either side of Hwy 175 off of Dobbin Rd.

Columbia Mall has some very nice areas for groups meetups either outside Norstrom or at the food court. They also have a Panera.

Parks and picnic areas: Many of these areas in Columbia have shelters that we can use if no one else has a reservation for them.

Rocky Point State Park/Beach in Baltimore County slightly NE of the city. This place is great for anything and the water is much cleaner than at other locations south of Baltimore. No entry fee during the early spring months.

Information on many of these places can be accessed via the internet so before you ask me a lot of details check out the websites first. ( for example: Cancun Cantina and Rocky Point)

In Towson, Friday Nite swing dancing is available in a non alcoholic environment. Usually the music isn't too loud for conversation.

My poly group also used a Mexican restaurant over by Rt 2 and I-695. I would have to do some checking to find the exact location.

What places did you try? I don't want to suggest places you've already hit.

Hi All;
Two things:

Thing 1; You need to go to http://www.meetup.com/GBAC-Greater-Baltimore-Atheist-Community/ and join the GBAC group.

Thing 2; I need people in the Ellicott City/Columbia area to suggest meeting places for next weeks meetup. I went on a scouting mission today and came back empty. Of the four places I had in mind, three didn't have meeting rooms and the one that had a meeting room, didn't have AV AND wanted to charge $200 for the privilege of paying even more for a minimum of 16 entree's at 29.00 a pop.

So, if we want to have meetup, we need to find a place pronto. Your help will be greatly appreciated.
