Talks for October at Baltimore Clojure!

Jason L.

Group Organizer
Baltimore, MD
Hey, folks, looks like we have a speaker lineup solidifying for our next meetup! We've got a gentle intro for the Clojure newb, a talk on macros, and an intro to core.async, so there's stuff for Clojurians of any XP level or alignment. Can't wait to see you all there!
Getting Clojure - Jason Lewis
A short introduction to Clojure for the uninitiated.
Macros - Gary Trakhman
This will be a demonstration and tutorial of one of lisp's coolest features, syntactic abstraction.
We will show a motivating use-case, some background information, implementation and use of a real macro that's survived the chopping-block as well as a discussion of tradeoffs.
An Introduction to core.async - Alex Redington

Alex Redington will give a presentation on Clojure's core.async library, present some examples of how to use it as a thread coordination mechanism, and briefly discuss the implications of e.g. (go) (!) vs. (thread) (!!).

(Want to present, demo, or do an open hack? Let us know!)
