Folklore Tour of the Oriental World
With Samira Shuruk
Sunday, April 14, 2013
1:30PM – 5PM
MAC Harbor East
A belly dancer needs to be well versed in the regional rhythms and dances in order to react to the music with joy and ease. Listen, learn and dance along – learning basic steps as well as numerous ways to put them together.
In this workshop, Samira will review the dances that commonly appear in Oriental entrances (and sometimes by themselves in Oriental routines) such as beledi, saidi, khaliji and kawliya. Who knows, we may even get a few more!
This is a great topic for performing dancers looking to fine-tune their sets and infuse them with authenticity as well as student dancers who want to enrich their understanding of belly dance (and regardless of skill level, all y’all gonna have a great time dancing it up with Samira!)
