She is currently one of the main teachers and choreographers at Sahara Dance in Washington, DC and frequently travels to teach workshops. She also trains several professional dancers for performance and competition.
1 – 3:00pm: Drum Solo Technique Sharhzad will share her drum solo techniques — shimmies, hip articulations and a little extra emphasis on belly moves and accents — which we will then put into a short choreography.
3:30 – 5:30pm: Taqsim Technique The taqsim is an improvisation done to an instrumental solo and is an opportunity for the dancer to work on slower and more internal movements. Shahrzad will break down the technique for snakey movements which we will then practice improvising and putting to music.
