Colleen, the longest standing member of the Bellydance Superstars, seen in the troupe for over ten years performing both cabaret and tribal, is here to present a workshop! Known for her unique blend of the two styles, her extensive training n hip-hop and jazz, Colleen will break down some moves from each style and integrate them into a tribal fusion choreography. This workshop will focus on some of the nuances of hip hop and how it can be applied to Egyptian tribal fusion. Her take on pop lock, breakdance and oriental styleintegrates tribal fusion and invokes a ferocity that is strictly unique. Colleen will focus on seamless transitions, technique, timing and polishing ones posture. You will leave the class with a new fun and funky choreography and a new approach to dance.
Bio: A Native of San Francisco, Colleen's dance background is in Ballet, Jazz, Modern and Hip-Hop. She studied dance performance and dance medicine at San Francisco State University. Her credits include numerous commercials, music videos, and bellydance instructional's. Colleen joined the Bellydance Superstars and the Desert Roses troupe in early 2003 as the first official Desert Rose. Being one of the first selected, she is also the only one remaining from the original cast. She was one of eight dancers in the first Bellydance Superstars performance- The World Peace Music Awards held in Bali, Indonesia June 2003. She also performed in the summer 2003 tour incorporating 64 Lollapalooza performances. Since then, Colleen has danced in over 18 countries with Bellydance Superstars and to date, has never missed a tour performance. Due to her unparalleled versatility, Colleen has been featured in all the group choreography and has consistently played the role of the company's chameleon. You can see her gracing the stage as a colorful cabaret dancer and in the same show, slip seamlessly into the tapestries of tribal. Due to her passion and dedication, Colleen has been performing strictly tribal within the company since 2007. She teaches workshops around the U.S. and offers a unique blend of cabaret and tribal fusion within her workshop format. She appears in the feature length documentaries "American Bellydancer", "Behind the Shimmy", "30 days to Vegas", and the performance DVD's " Live in Paris", " Babelesque: Live from Tokyo", Tribal Fusions Volume 2", "Tribal LA", " The Art of Bellydance: Live from Shanghai", and " Bombay Bellywood: Live from Los Angeles".
