More modern than traditional dance. Would have liked to have seen more traditional dances.

Thank you so much for coming!

We, Barakaat, certainly follow the philosophy that Oriental Dance isn't static, but continually evolving and we allow ourselves to be influenced by that evolution, embracing both the past and the present in the dance form simultaneously. We sourced all the music we used at Global expressions from the Middle East (for that show, all Turkish music, except the drum solo, which was from an Arabic artist), and we use a highly researched and overwhelmingly traditional dance vocabulary. I imagine if you came to our show at the Aquarium this Friday night where every piece is performed with the live acoustic music of the Saltanah Ensemble, you'll probably come away with a totally different feeling.
