1 – 3pm  PERSIAN DANCE with Katayoun:More than arms and hands.

Persian dance styles are characterized by fluid expressive upper body movements, intricate steps, along with a variety of spins and turns. The diverse Persian performance styles and regional Iranian folk dances share some similarities, however, each style has its own unique flavor. Through a series of choreographed sequences of different Persian/Iranian dance styles, students will explore:

Beautiful Arms & Hands…Fluid Steps & Body Carriage…

Musical Interpretation & Styling

Through Katayoun's unique approach to Persian dance, you will also learn to improve your practice of belly dance with a stronger lifted posture, fluid arms and hands, and beautiful musicality through story telling. A professional performer of both belly dance and Persian dance, Katayoun also offers valuable insight into the Persian music, culture and language that is especially relevant to belly dancers performing for the Iranian community.

3:30 – 5:30pm  Dabke with Meesha!Learn the joyful traditional folk dance of Lebanon and the Middle East.  Participants will learn common styles of Lebanese dabke, often done at various celebrations and festivals, which will be incorporated with more advanced movements.  Each student will also learn how to lead a dabke line using the more embellished movements that the leader or Raas (head) performs.  This class is designed for all levels and will offer attendees a fun, informative and spirited experience.
