Intro to Raqs Mosaique Belly Dance Format & Teacher Training (Sterling, VA)

Dancers and aspiring belly dance teachers are invited to learn about and review Katayoun’s Dance Format for the Teacher Training program.

This workshop will introduce the fundamental concepts of the format, as well as provide a nice review of key concepts from Level 1 for current candidates, including:

• Muscle Engagement & Body Alignment

• Fundamental Movement Vocabulary

• Layering Method Drills for Transitions and Building Combinations

• Music & Rhythms

Katayoun’s dance format, Raqs Mosaique, is derived from an eclectic blend of traditional Middle Eastern dance flavors, inspired by contemporary world music.

Designed for multi-level teaching, the goal of the program is to impart the art and craft of teaching Middle Eastern dance with an emphasis on strong technique, musical knowledge and cultural expression.

The format works well for recreational and fitness classes as well as performance-oriented programs. Teachers trained in the Raqs Mosaique format create their own unique programs, while simplifying movement breakdown and advancing skill progression.

Belly dance teachers and dancers who are considering jumping into teaching can participate in Raqs Mosaique Teacher Training. New sessions of the Level 1 and Level 2 training are planned for the winter and spring of 2015.

More information about Katayoun and the program can be found on the Mosaique Teacher Training page:
