This is not really a jazz or blues show, but there are 3 pretty good bands, it's free, and the outdoor music setting is beautiful, and it's the next to last show of the summer.
One of the performers, J.C. McPherson, JD McPherson is an American singer-songwriter and guitarist from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. He is known for a retro sound rooted in the rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly music of the 1950s.
Another band, The Whigs, is The Whigs are an American garage rock band from Athens, Georgia.
The third band, Moon Taxi, is an American indie-progressive rock band based in Nashville, Tennessee. The setting is a hillside overlooking the Harbor, located South of Boston Street, near the intersection of S. Ellwood Avenue. If you're into beer, Baltimore's Own The Brewer's Art will have multiple tents set up selling a variety of their excellent microbrews. Since Brewer's Art is one of the main sponsors, attendees are encouraged to patronize their services. Food vendors will also be on hand. However, lines can be long, and bringing your own cooler is not forbidden. The park opens at 6 pm, and the music starts at 6:30 and lasts until 11 pm. Best to bring a blanket and/or lawn chair to sit on. Parking can be tight if you want to park on the street, but there are also some paid parking lots nearby. See the First Thursday website for all the details: http://wtmd.org/radio/first-thursday-concerts-in-the-park/
I plan to get there relatively early, and will hopefully be able to stake out a territory for us before it gets too crowded (it will). I'll be wearing a faded orange Sarasota Jazz Club balcap and will have a sign saying "Meetup" to help you find me and the group.
