The Joy of Cooking: Deploying MongoDB with Chef

MongoDB makes developers happy! Extend that happiness beyond the database and application development with Chef. Chef enables you to capture your infrastructure as code and automate the provisioning and deployment of MongoDB (and just about any other kind of) servers. In this talk you'll learn some of the basics of Chef and get a glimpse into the Joy of Cooking with Chef.

This month's presenter is Nathen Harvey, organizer of the Washington, DC MongoDB meetup group. Nathan recently gave this talk at the MongoDB Chicago event, where it was very well received.

Interesting and informative presentation, Nathan did a good job of fielding the questions and covering different practical uses

Nathen is a very good speaker. Very interesting talk that covered the entire ecosystems of potential use cases.

Repost from discussions, I wasn't sure if anyone was reading that :)

Any interest in a "hadoop integration best practices" discussion? Particularly focused on analytics (rather than on ETL)

We've had Hadoop integrated into our MongoDB-basked platform for a while (I demo'd it at a MongoDB DC meetup ages ago), but used it "in anger" as part of a production system for the first time over the summer, which is of course the first time we got to test all the random design decisions we made during development!

I'd be happy to share my (unspectacular) experiences, analysis, and roadmap and interested in hearing other peoples'.

      Hi Alex,

Well, I got really busy with school and the holidays, so I wasn't reading either place. That sounds great, though! I'll get in touch with you about it soon.
