Grand Prix Saturday

Looks like there is some interest in meeting up at the Grand Prix.  I'll set up two events - one for Saturday and one for Sunday.

This is going to be a little wild and woolly since we can expect large crowds and a lot of chaos, but we'll try to make it work.

Let's meet at Gate A near the corner of Eutaw and Pratt street between 9:30 AM and 10 AM.

I'll be there all day.  If we don't meet in the morning feel free to call or text me. [masked]-2137.

Please note you are on your own for tickets.  Here is some information on a nice Living Social deal:

I understand Groupon also has a deal.

Posted some of my favorite Saturday shots. As an FYI, these shots are from areas accessible to any normal grandstand ticket-holder. Most of my best shots on Saturday were pan shots using 1/100 or 1/200 shutter speeds, F8 or F11 and auto ISO. The panning motion blurs the fence and background nicely and gives the photos a more dynamic feel. I probably took about 2500 total photos on Saturday. I threw out most of them. The cars are moving so fast it was very difficult to frame them. I had many many shots with nothing but pavement or possible a front or rear bumper. More to come for Sunday...

I was downtown this morning and things are shaping up nicely for a great weekend of racing! Maybe not so great for the commuters. Gate A is near the Marriott, basically at the foot of Eutaw where it dead-ends into the track area. I'll be there between 9 and 9:30 at least until 10. I'm 6'4" and easy to spot. I'll be wearing a white polo shirt with a www.Highway.tv logo on it. I'll also be wearing (dare I say it?) a Dallas Cowboys hat and one of our extra-special meetup buttons. I'll have buttons to hand out. I'll also try to bring some kind of signage.

    See you soon!

I heard there may be good prices for tickets directly on the Grand Prix web site. It might even be better than the Living Social deal. Here is an important point for everyone to keep in mind: I have never been there before so I have no idea what kind of viewing there will be. I suspect paddock tickets will have limited sightlines. General admission and bleacher tickets should be better.

Also - after we get together in the morning, I will be splitting off and entering areas with limited access. I'll try to rejoin the group now and then throughout the day as time permits. The group will be pretty much on their own most of the day. I thought it would be a good idea to at least synch up in the morning with other meetup members so we can all say hi. At that point the group can decide whether to stay together or split up.

FYI in case you didn't notice there is a dynamite rock band "Live" playing Saturday evening on the main stage. I'll be there too.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
