It was great having a photo group in this area, I am having trouble getting to the others, it take an hour to get to the Museum of Industry meeting through Baltimore. Did the Parkville group ever start having local get togethers again?

Great! I wish I had more knowledge about photography to get photos to do the beautiful girls justice.

You're on the right track. The best way to get more knowledge is to take more photos. Study the ones that came out well and use that to help improve your next shots.

With this winter weather, will parking and safety in the neighborhood be an issue for tomorrow night?

    March 4, 2014

    • Jim W.

Hi, Steve, there is a parking lot across the street from the side of the building. The area seems very safe to me.

I hope y'all have some heat?
We didnt all finish our new costumes, so we will be in a medley of different costumes. We are all sizes and ages, and we look forward to a fun shoot! We are going to try to pair up and assist each other in helping each other pose. We can do group shots and solos.

If additional lights are needed I always have my studio setup in my vehicle.

Thanks. I Don't have any studio lights, so I'll bring camera, lenses, tripod, etc. Looking forward to this.

Yes, bringing more continuous lights might be a good idea. I have a lot o shots from last session that were dark. I had to use flash anyhow. I was hoping this kind of controlled studio lighting would give us the chance to use continuous lights. We had continuous lights set up last time but at the distance they set so a lot of photographers could get in they didn't have enough power to light the subject for photos. I needed to use a fast shutter speed because the models were in motion. The whole idea of continuous lighting is to avoid the flash look. I was at a demonstration recently where they had the continuous lights very close to the subject, it almost looked too close. There must be an answer, more lights or stronger lights? There are strobes used in off camera arrangements maybe to combat this problem, but the neat thing about continuous lighting is that you can are supposed to see what you get, instead of looking at the monitor after you took the picture to see how it worked.

Sorry for the delayed response... It's been a crazy few weeks. We should be OK with lights for this upcoming session, but it wouldn't hurt to bring an extra set of lights or two, even if you just leave them in the car unless needed. Otherwise I don't think there are any specific equipment needs. continuous lights seem to work best for this type of shoot - It's easier for multiple photographers to shoot at the same time that way.

I'm the same as Steve, never attended one of these events. I have some studio lights that I could bring if there's enough room. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I've not come to one of these before. What should I bring in the way of equipment (i.e. beyond flashes and camera?).
