2013 Bangkok Marathon

Bangkok Marathon on-line registration is now open. As per previous years 4.5 km walk, with runs of 10k, half marathon and full marathon distances.

Website is http://www.bkkmarathon.com/eng/

Last year quite a few of us ran ... be great to do the same this year. Registering through goadventureasia makes a lot of the process and number/goodies bag pick-up really easy for 100 baht more. Don't forget to put down your are resident in Thailand, irrespective of nationality. Registration with goadventureasia has now commenced http://www.goadventureasia.com/BKM/bkm.htm

Let's do it!

Iain

ps. Please note updated start time for full-marathon from 3:00AM to 2:00AM

As good as it gets in Bangkok for a marathon. Friendly volunteers, plenty of water. Not wonderfully placed distance markers, though pretty accurate in total for the marathon, less accurate for the half. Will do again ... in 2014 or more likely 2015.

I was trying to find the finish line photos and stumbled across this one. I think it's you? #7304 (from: shutterrunning.com) http://shutterrunning...

Hope everybody had a good race especially for the 42k runners! For those who run the 21k, did you get a distance less than 20k on your GPS? Last year it was like 250m too long and now more than 1k too short??? Of course this is nice for our "official" times but not very professional for an international standard race... All in all I enjoyed the run!

    November 17, 2013

    • Pisal S.

Many of my friend's GPS who ran the Half were ranging from[masked]km range, btw.

      November 17, 2013

    • Anthony A.

Did they know it was short in advance or just afterwards? There is no real excuse, even if it wasn't possible to put a turn in the central reservation a few hundered metres up the road, the start/finish lines could have been adjusted and an extra turn put into the course after coming of the expressway.

Hope you all had a great time... This was my first proper 10k, and can't describe the feeling when I crossed the finish line. Want to return for the Half Marathon next year. Cheers.

Will the race be disrupted by any protests?

    November 15, 2013

    • rangsarn

Should be alright if you can navigate through or around the protest site to reach the run site beyond.... Plan for more time to do so... Although early hours should lighten the problem

Getting excited for the run? Be patient as you navigate to the racekit pickup site later this week as the venue passes through the area which goes nearby govt buildings which are under heavy police control as well as traffic rerouting

Thought I'd ask if anyone would like to go together to pick up race pack as I am one of those people who are more than likely to get lost......can meet near Time Square or Terminal 21 if anyone is interested.

Also, I don't live in Bangkok so will take at least an hour for me to get there....... Sorry. Probably easiest if I make my own way to collect.

    November 3, 2013

for those running this event for the first time, the venue for picking up your stuff on November 15-16 is the Royal Thai Army Club on Sri-Ayudhaya road, available here at this map link (http://goo.gl/maps/DGGfO) ... BE CAREFUL: there are multiple Royal Thai Army clubs, so study the map and be careful; many taxi drivers know of another branch of the army club (by the same name), but it is on Vipawadee road ... which is a completely different direction... tell the taxi driver to go to Sri-Ayudhaya road; and if all else fails, on those two days, give me a call and i'll talk to the taxi driver for ya... [masked] ... have a smooth pre-run pickup

    Hi everyone !

If you run the marathon, why wouldn"t you run for a good cause such as : Enfants du Mekong (Children of the Mekong)
    => www.enfantsdumekong.com

Enfants du Mekong is a french NGO. It has been existing for more than 50 years. Its vision is to act against the suffering of children and families living in extreme poverty in South Est Asia, in order to meet their needs and affirm their dignity. Its mission is to educate, train, and be a presence for children and young people to allow them to improve their material life and build themselves up intellectually, emotionally and morally.

You just have to create your own fundraising page on : http://defidumekongmarathonbang...

and share it with your friends and family.

You run, your friends support you…
… and Enfants du Mekong builds schools!

    This is magic!
    See you soon!

hello all BkkMarathoners, i'm training for my very first 42K at this race.... and would like to run together with similarly paced 42K runners... i'm thinking of a 8KM/hour speed, using a 7min:3min run:walk ratio all the way.... is there anybody who would like to join me as group support for this first run?! it's a commitment i know... but it is more fun too, i promise to not be boring! :)

    August 9, 2013
