The wealth of 67 people is equal to the bottom half of the people on the planet.

Big Oil is spilling oil all over the world, fracking, and promoting climate change, causing the next great extinction that will kill 95% of the life on the planet.

Big Military Industrial Complex is causing perpetual war, killing millions of people.

Big Surveillance Industrial Complex is spying on all of us, monitoring our calls, emails, breaking into our homes, and keeping records on all of us.

Big Agriculture is causing the obesity epidemic, forcing us to eat GMO grown food, and destroying food diversity and the ecosystem.

Big Phrama is over medicating us, overcharing us, and writing their own legislation.

Big Prison Industrial Complex is promoting the "War on drugs", imprisoning us, especially minorities, for non violent crimes.

Big Corporations are buying politicians, writing their own legislation, getting corporate welfare, and have taken over the US Supreme Court.

The wealth of 67 people is equal to the wealth of the bottom half of the people on the planet.

And the 34 trillion dollars worth of wealth created in the US since the 2008 Great Recession, has gone completely to the top 7%, mostly to the top 1/10%.

Are you concerned about the growing income disparity in the world?  Are you concerned about how money is corrupting the democratic process?  Are you concerned about Big Corporations destroying the world?  Do you want to get money out of politics?  Do you think government should help us stand up to big money?  Do you miss talking to your friends and family about what is happening?  Are you concerned about going back to a country you won't recognize?  Come join other Democratic Socialists and like minded individuals, who are concerned about the corrupting influence of money.  We will be providing a supportive environment, talking about our feelings, and supporting each other. We will also be forming work groups, for those who are interested, writing emails, using social media, making phone calls (I have free calls to the US and Canada), and finding other ways to effect change. And, I almost forgot, please bring your sense of humor to help us lighten the mood.

Democratic socialism is a political ideology advocating a participatory democratic political system alongside a socialist economic system, extending principles of democracy in the economy through consumer cooperatives, credit unions, mutual aid societies, and workplace democracy. Democratic socialism promotes a strong welfare state, fiscal redistribution through tax policies, workers' control of the labor process, and some nationalization (public ownership), to achieve greater equality in society, removing privilege and monopoly. Our well-being depends on recognizing others and being recognized by them, we are all connected in this world, and the world has enough resources for all of us if we share.

Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont is a self-described democratic socialist, and is the only self-described democratic socialist to ever be elected to the United States Senate. Thom Hartmann, who I listen to religiously, has the #1 progressive show in the US, and is also a self-described democratic socialist.

So ... let's meet, share our stories, our concerns, support each other, and make a difference.  I will be posting on several other Meetups, so please RSVP early, I'll keep the RSVP limits updated so we don't go over my seating capacity, I only have seating for 12 people at my condo.  More events are posted at the Big Money has taken over the US political system & the world Meetup.  We will be meeting in lobby of the Skywalk Condos between 7:00 and 7:15pm, and we will not be waiting for those arriving after 7:15pm.  We will be going to my condo, I live here with my boyfriend, but he doesn't have a political bone in his body, so he won't be joining us.  We can meet until 10ish, but if you need to leave earlier, no worries, you are always welcome, even if it is only for an hour or two.

The Skywalk Condos are located at 1595 Sukhumvit Road, just south of Soi 69 and Rama 4, it is a 50 story building, easy to see from the BTS, I have included some pictures below.  Take Exit #3 Phra Khanong BTS, make a U turn at the bottom of the stairs, walk approximately 250 meters south on Sukhumvit Road, turning left onto the first driveway just past the new five story "W District" shopping center, turn left at the World Star Academy, and take a sharp right at the round circle construction area in the center of the driveway, the Skywalk Lobby will be immediately in front of you, we will be near the entrance or inside the lobby.

Bring a small snack or drink to share if you want a particular snack or something special to drink.  You will be walking by the "Family Mart" at Soi 69, on your way here, it will be the last place you can pick something up.  Please leave me a message on Meetups or by email if you have any questions.

Hope to meet you soon,

Bradley
