A daytime event in the province of Kanchanaburi, 2-3 hours travel from Bangkok. The Organization, Bring the Elephant Home (BTEH) is a group of dedicated people who preserves and protects Thai elephants and has been diligently organizing check dam making and tree planting for several years already.
Itinerary of the Event:
5.00 - 5.30 am - Meeting time and place at Victory Monument
5.30 - 8.00 am - Arrive at Kanchanaburi City
8.00 - 9.00 am - Breakfast and travel to the Pong Pad intersection
9.00 am. Meeting point: Parking at Pong Pad intersection.
9.30 - 12.00 pm - Welcome and introductions. Start building natural check dams with EGAT officers
12.00 pm - Lunch in the forest.
13.00- 15.00 pm - Finish check dam building
15.00 - 16.00 - Drive back to Kanchanaburi City
16.00 - 19.30 - Back to Bangkok
Good to bring:
- Sun block
- Cap or hat
- Comfortable closed shoes that can get dirty
- Insect repellent
- Long sleeved shirt & trousers
- Dry cloths
Cost: Approximately (฿900)
฿400 - Participation fee to cover some of the cost of the food, drinks, trees and check dam making tools and materials.
฿250 - Fare trip Bangkok-Kanchanaburi-Bangkok
฿250 - Rent for Songtaew from Kanchanaburi City going to the activity site (could be less if more people will come and share)

NOTE: This is a two-day event and if you're interested to stay until Aug. 11 Sunday, please let us know so we can arrange an accommodation for you. There's also a team leaving on Friday evening and you can join if you can't afford to wake-up that very early on Saturday morning.
