Let's hike Cadillac Mountain's South Ridge

Begin and end at the trail marker off of route 3 on MDI. I believe this is about a 7 mile round trip. There consistent elevation gain from the start to the summit, but it is gradual. Winter hiking gear including traction is necessary for comfort and safety.

I can't wait to start hiking with you guys, unfortunately I have already made plans to do the Chamberlain March Saturday. Have you been thinking about doing any of the Appllachain Trail before the snow is gone? I am all packed for an overnight, I'm thinking next weekend if anyone is interested.

Depends on group fitness, preparedness, and conditions. I'm guessing about five hours. Your gear would work fine.

Hi frank! Haven't done a winter hike yet so what do I need for the hike?

Multiple layers of wool, synthetic, and/or down;trekking poles; and traction devices like Micro spikes or Stabilicers.

I did this hike last fall and it was just right in length and intensity. Winter will make it a different challenge! I guess yak trax and poles will be called for.
