This week will be hosted by the lovely Kelly, make sure you go and say hi :-)
This bar's rewards far outweigh the struggle involved in getting there...
Accessible only by the stairs - lots of them!
For the beer drinkers, Enjoy $3 Carlton pots, $10 pizza and pot (To be confirmed)
The main indoor bar is a warehouse-ish room with a vaulted ceiling so high it could either house trapeze artists or its own atmosphere.
The accouterments are a pleasing mix of tones, textures and themes, with latticed screens, Japanese cushions, candlelit nooks in walls, lush potted greenery, a few canny foxes and a guide dog money box hiding in a planter box.
The palette is a mix of deep browns, burgundies and steels, giving the Order a low-key elegance at night that is well suited to the burlesque and masquerade events it often hosts.
If you'd rather look out across the rooftops to Storey Hall and beyond, there is an airy roof terrace (accessible by, yes, more stairs) dotted with plenty of tables and comfortable chairs. The surrounding walls and balconies have been left as is (chipped and peeling paint, cracked stucco and plaster) and the creepy neon sign on Druid House next door leaves the terrace feeling a bit Strictly Ballroom, were that feelgood flick set in feel-bad Detroit.
The Order is a multitasking venue as enjoyable with a coffee and snack during the afternoon as it is with a cocktail - and they're very good here - in the wee hours.
The wine list is extensive and as far as beers and spirits are concerned, all tastes and budgets are catered for.
For anyone keen to head across the road to Asian Beer Cafe. We will be heading over there at 9pm for 90's Music, $4 pizzas up to 10pm and $1 champagnes for the ladies. We will be there till late
