Hiking and Chi-Kung (Qi Gong): Cubelles – Vilanova – Sitges

Let’s meet at Cubelles train station (two stops after Sitges if you come from Barcelona) at 9.15am (the train ends in Sant Vicenç de Calders).
After the introductions, we will start walking towards the seaside, and then continue walking by the beach towards Vilanova.

In a nice and cool, airy area we will do a practice of Qi Gong (Chi Kung) for about one hour. As some of you know, Chi (Qi) means “life energy” and Kung (Gong) means “cultivate or work”. Qi Gong dates from the Chou Dynasty [masked] BC) and is part of Traditional Chinese Medicine with acupuncture, Tui Na (massage), Dietetics and the Pharmacopoeia. Qi Gong is a gentle, meditative gymnastics that increases our vitality, the flow of our energy in our body, and its flexibility and vitality. It helps us to achieve a relaxed mood, toned and feel in harmony with ourselves, with nature and life. Our session will consist of several parts:

Static posture (standing up): it helps us to become aware of the here and the now.
Dynamic standing movements: slow, harmonious exercises, similar to “a dance in slow motion”. This part provides flexibility, enhances muscle tone, stimulates blood circulation and recharges the energy in our bodies.
Meditation: It can be either standing up, or sitting on the edge of a chair or on a cushion. In this condition of comfortable immobility and effortless attention, we pay attention on your breathing. The main objectives of this Taoist meditation are to enhance the vital energy and harmony with ourselves, with other human beings and with life in general, activating and cultivating consciously of our best abilities.
Closure: relaxation: this last part helps us to integrate everything we have previously done to our whole being.

After the practice we will continue walking towards Vilanova i la Geltru by the seaside, passing through rocky seasides, sand & forest like areas.

We will walk through this village crossing its beautiful beaches famous for its grass (perfect to play tennis) and fine sand.
We will have lunch at the Lighthouse Beach (this means bringing with you whatever you want to eat) a beach surrounded by cliffs and Mediterranean vegetation.
We will leave the village hiking up & down the characteristic Garraf cliffs enjoying the trails and fabulous views of the sea and Les Colls park.

We will reach Sitges around 4pm, we'll have a drink there on a terrace overlooking the beach (not included), after which the activity will end.

Remember to bring good hiking footwear, at least one liter of water, your food and your sunscreen. A hat or similar and sunglasses are also recommended… and don’t forget for bathing suit ;-)

We recommend having a hiking licence or having a personal insurance that may cover possible incidents. Each person participates at his/her own risk in the activity. The hiking yearly license is very affordable, if you don't have one you may get it from any hiking association, I got mine here: http://www.madteam.org

Enjoy the afternoon relaxing on the loooong & beautiful beach and walking through this fashionable & charming modernist Mediterranean village full of atmosphere :)

Hiking distance: 14 Km
Elevation: 160 mts
Difficulty: Easy (there are a few parts where we will walk close to the train, it’s not dangerous)
Price: 15 Euros

The hiking route was beautiful, it was not difficult, and it was nice to enjoy it with the company of very nice people. It was my first time doing Qi Gong, and I liked the feeling of practicing it in a nature setting, it was relaxing.

Hi Leti! I live in Vilanova, so I won't be in Bcn to take the train with you:) I think that you can meet at 8:15 in Passeig de Gracia train station to take the train at 8:29. See you on Sunday!!! Best:)

    Thanks for the information Cristina!
Then for me it's best if I take the train in Passeig de Gracia. We can meet at 8AM outside the train station. Or we can make sure we take this train, and meet either in the first train car or the last.
    What do you think?

Just in case, the train to Cubelles doesn't pass through Plaça de Catalunya train station. Also, the train to Cubelles must pass SITGES,
    Cheers:)
