1st Annual New York City Barefoot Run

** You must register at www.nycBarefootRun.com ***

It's about time that minimalist and barefoot runners had our own race. Well, now we do.

On Sunday, October 10th, join Barefoot Runners NYC at the 1st Annual New York City Barefoot Run.
- Wear VFFs or go barefoot (or even just wear normal sneakers)
- The location is beautiful Governors Island in New York Harbor, with stunning views of the Statue of Liberty, lower Manhattan, and the Brooklyn Bridge.
- Come meet other leading barefoot runners, including:
** Dan Lieberman, the Harvard professor studying the science of barefoot running
** Jason Robillard, ultramarathoner, author of The Barefoot Running Book and founder of Barefoot Running University
** Erwan Le Corre, founder of MovNat and 20-year barefoot running veteran
- ...and more!

More than a run and done, this is a whole weekend of events for the barefoot running community. On Saturday, there will be running clinics during the day. In the evening, we will have a social event for participants. And Sunday, before and after the race, you'll have a chance to meet other runners and our special guests.

Registration for this event is limited to 500 runners. That sounds like a lot, but runs fill up quickly in NYC, so it's really not -- register soon.

John & Maggie: many thanks for organizing this great event. Well worth getting up early on a Sunday for! And I broke my personal record: 8.5 miles on VFFs. Thanks again!

john, maggie and the rest. the run jammed and had little mass culture influence. also, the clinic that you facilitated with chris really helped me on the run. essayons!

Many, many, many thanks to John (and Maggie!) for hosting such a supremely awesome event. I had a blast. You rock! I am looking forward to next year!! Until then, and per Robillard's cue, I'll keep smiling when people gawk at my feet. :D

Hi everyone, My name's Tricia, I'm an NYU journalism student and I'm currently working on a broadcast segment on barefoot running. I think it's an incredible concept that more people should know about. Would it be okay if I filmed at the run on Oct 10 for images to include in my piece? If anyone is willing/brave/kind enough to give an interview that'd be wonderful ([masked]), but the chance to film would be more than appreciated! Let me know!

I'm registered and excited! I can do a barefoot 5K now. When I joined you all for the Born to Run event I could only do 1.5 miles. My feet have improved considerably.
