Is anyone interested in doing more trail running? I love Central Park, but I dearly miss running in the woods. There are some nice trail sections in the North End of the Park.
Would anyone be interested in joining me on some trail runs? I'm researching locales now.
There is a Trail Race this spring on Bear Mtn. (http://www2.thenorthf.... Distances range from 5k to 50 mile (10k, half marathon, marathon, 50k).
I'm sorry it has taken me so long to put a plan together. I posted 2 new trail meet ups. I'm going to drive up to Bear Mountain tomorrow morning to run the 10k course. Also, there is a Thanksgiving Day Trail Run that I posted. Please email with more ideas for trails. Also, if you are familiar with a system of trails and would like to guide us on a trail run, please let me know.
That being said, I've never done the Bear Mountain 10k before, so we may get off trail:)

Saturday works for me. I live in Astoria. I don't know how many people from Queens would like to join us, but perhaps we can have a meeting place in Manhattan. Say, in front of the Plaza hotel (we can
park in front of the small street between the fountain and the main entrance of the hotel)? Should we say 7:30 AM?

I would love to join for this wknd, but Notre Dame is playing at yankee stadium and I've got tons of houseguests and tailgating to attend to, not to mention the actual game. next time, though, definitely count me in. I can usually borrow a friend's car too. Have fun this wknd!

I do have a car and can squeeze in 3 in the backseat. Sunday mornings are often good for me, but my schedule is unpredictable so I will have to play this ad-hoc. For example, I am not yet sure if I can go to the Palisades 1 hour from now, even though it is sure looking good at the moment...
For example, I am thinking about goi

Unfortunately, I am out of town this weekend. I'm glad there is so much interest. What days & times are best for everyone to get out of the city to the woods? Personally, I'm a fan of early Saturday mornings to get out of the city.
I have a car that can seat up to 7 people (not much leg room for the back 2 though).
Thanks for all the ideas on locations. There is so much available right around the city.

I am totally up for trails. I've been doing Palisades Park just across the GW bridge - nice trails, not too hilly, but a little noisy due to the Palisades Parkway. I did the 10K at Bear Mountain last May in VFFs and would like to do the Half Marathon in 2011. Maciek, I think you saw the past events on that link and the new event hasn't been posted yet. Bear Mountain is awesome but a true beast, lots of stones and hilly, so using the word endurance to describe it is right.

South Mountain Reservation in NJ has a great system of trails. It's easily accessible via NJ Transit. Just take the train to Millburn and there is an entrance to the park right across the street. Penn Station to Millburn is about 45 mins. I've done some trail runs there and it was a lot of fun (not in VFFs though).
