Barefoot Runners NYC Message Board › Important question about VFF Bikila - too me...
New York, NY
I have a pair of KSO size 43 that I use for normal fitness activities.
Now to my question:
I want to get a pair of Bikila to take up running. The 43 is kind of big, around the ankle it is quite loose and I can fit a finger behind the heel. If I pull back the heel, my toes are only halfway inside the shoes toes.
The 42 is snug all over, but I can feel my toes touching the inside of the shoe and kind of a pressing feeling. They are really tight.
But, getting to the question, you guys that DO run in these shoes, what sensation do you have when running. Are the feet getting pressed against the heel, or pushed towards the toes?
What are your suggestions? Do I go for the bigger 43 (my foot is a liiittle loose inside when running) or the 42 that has that pressing feeling? They are a little bit elastic, and I have the sensation that my KSO´s have streched out a little bit.
Please shoot me some feedback on your experience, so I can meet up with you guys soon.

I prefer mine to be tighter than looser. For me, when they are looser, I tend to get blisters (bad!) during longer (eg. 10M+) sweaty/wet runs (for short (eg. 4-5M), cooler, dry runs - being slightly looser didn't make a difference).
First time I bought "tight" VFF's, I was worried about my toes pressing against the front, but the material seems to give a bit, and if I'm running "correctly" (ie. land under my center of mass, on my forefoot, etc...) and my toe nails are trimmed, my toes generally aren't smashing up against the front... and I prefer the "snug" feeling more
ps. not sure if this applies.. but the styles of VFF's vary in size (ie. size 41 is not the same size/fit across all the sizes - at least for me) - i made that mistake before and bought 41's for all styles (trek, kso, sprint), whereas I should have bought 41 for one style, and 40's for others (I forget right now which is which)... but regarding wearing "tighter" fits, I currently run with 39's sprints.
