Homemade minimal shoe

Hey everyone,

Check out the shoe my uncle from Alaska made. He has talking about a prototype for a while and finally made one. I thought it would be a good thing to share with you guys, you know get those creative juices flowing.

While at Grandma's I made a pair of "barefoot" running shoes. These will
surely rival Vibram's 5 fingers. I bought a 2.8 ounce tube of GE silicone
($3) at Home Depot and made soles on a pair of athletic socks. I used
insoles from my running shoes to help form the sock to the right shape while
the silicone cured. After the silicone cured I removed the insoles and voi
la - a pair of Gordon's goo shoe.
Then I went to Bradley Woods and tried them out on the gravel trail around
the pond. I could feel every stone in the path but after 15 minutes of
running I was OK. Then I took them off and ran barefoot in the grass for
another 15 minutes. The next day I felt fine. Today I mowed my entire lawn
wearing the goo shoe. It was liberating. Maybe I could have done it with
bare feet but wanted to test the durability of the goo shoe. It performed
well - comfortable, no slipping, no rips or tears. Check out the pictures.
Tomorrow I'll try it on the rocky trails in the park near here.
