August Program: Dr. Samantha Blair, Dalton State College
Dr. Blair will talk about the basic concepts behind the field of astrobiology, her work involving the search for prebiotic molecules in the far Outer Galaxy and SETI, and finally an overview of Atacama Large Millimeter Array Project in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, and how it relates to astrobiology.
Dr. Blair received her PhD in Physics at UGA in 2008. She did a postdoc with SETI in Mountain View California, followed by being hired as a staff scientist/operator at the Hat Creek Radio Observatory in Northern California. She was hired as a Commissioning and Verification Scientist for ALMA (the Atacama Large Millimeter Array
) and lived in Chile for two years. Dr. Blair is currently an Asst. Prof of Physics and Astronomy at Dalton State College.
