By joining, you have read and agreed to the following:
Climbing, hiking, rock scrambling, and other outdoor activities are dangerous. They can result in serious injury, medical emergency, paralysis, even death. By responding YES to an event, the participant (hereinafter referred to as "The Hiker") understands that they have voluntarily joined a group event wherein they will be exposed to non-paved, non-settled wilderness areas where there may exist: uncertain footing, loose rock and soil, elevated trails, steep inclines, sharp stone, running water, and that these areas are occupied by wildlife and plants all of which are or may be hazardous to humans. The Hiker also understands that the event may include areas subject to extreme temperatures, inclement weather, lack of: water, food, shelter, immediate or regular medical assistance, communications to summon assistance, and that the cost for any medical assistance or transport for The Hiker is to be borne by The Hiker exclusively.
By responding YES to an event, The Hiker agrees to participate in this event completely at their own risk and to take full responsibility for their own safety and well-being.
The Hiker agrees to hereby release, indemnify, and hold harmless the organizers, leaders and other participants of BASEKAMP from any claim whatsoever which comes about directly or indirectly because of The Hiker's participation in the event, whether or not he completes the event, including travel to and from the group meeting point and travel to and from the trailhead. This release applies even if such accident(s) and/or mishap(s) is/are the result of some bad decision, poor judgment and/or terribly negligent action by the leader(s), organizer(s) and/or other participant(s). The Hiker agrees that this release also binds their heirs, assigns and estate.
The Hiker states that their physical condition, ability to accompany the trip leader, equipment, supplies, clothing, food, water, and medication are the sole responsibility of The Hiker and The Hiker states that The Hiker has determined them to be suitable for the event whether or not the event or The Hiker follows the route and time usually taken for such an event. The Hiker agrees to follow the instructions of the leader(s). The Hiker states that they have read the event guidelines.
In addition, should (despite this release) The Hiker or their heirs, assigns and/or estate bring action against any organizer(s), leader(s), and/or participant(s) of this group as a result of this activity, and should such action fail to prevail, The Hiker (and/or your heirs, assigns, and/or estate) will reimburse the organizer(s), leader(s) and/or participant(s) for any expenses, legal or otherwise, they may incur in defending against such action.
In addition, The Hiker understand that while participating in this kind of activity or related activities he may be photographed. The Hiker understands and agrees that the photograph(s) may be used in whole or in part, at any time, in composite or distorted form, in color or otherwise and may be displayed through any medium including, but not limited to printed medium, video or on the internet. By signing this waiver The Hiker authorizes any initial and any subsequent disclosure or publication of the photograph(s) at any time.
