Hi Ciaran, I just started this new group but we really need some traditional irish instruments to give it a more irish folk feel. We will perform our first concert on the 13th Sept in Windisch. Tomorrow morning we r recording 2 songs which I wrote. Would you be interested in joining us? Regards, Katie

Hi to all ! Any chance of joining an Irish music session in Zurich this coming week ?

Hi Ghenot, this session hasn't got off the ground yet as we haven't been able to find a place to rehearse. We would need to get a core group together and then find a rehearsal space. After that we could look out for venues to play. I think it's possible though as there's a lot of interest in a regular session in Zurich.

Is anyone free for a get together tomorrow (Sat 17.08) during the day, maybe around 1.30 - 2? I'm not 100% sure if I can make it as I'm based in Basel but at this point it should be ok, and I think we should try and get something started.

Hi all, July was busy with work and holidays but now things are getting back to normal. I suggest we try again to find somewhere to practice - here's a site I found that lists some "proberaum" for rent:

Do you know any place where to practice?

Good question, maybe someone has an apartment where the neighbours wouldn't mind some acoustic music..or we find a cafe / bar with a quiet corner that has a friendly owner.. :)

Hi everyone, I contacted the McGhee's pub in Zurich, and on Friday we're going to talk about the possibility of them hosting a session!

Hi all, just so you know a typical trad session in a pub doesn't have any singing it's mostly just instrumental. Here's a search on youtube:

I started learning the bodhran recently so I'm sure I could get some kind of rhythm out of it. Good thing about trad is that it's all acoustic so no need to hire studios for practice, just need someone's apartment / basement / garage

Well, first i guess Ciaran and the Irish people here could suggest some famous traditional tunes..i like Irish Music n i Love the Tin Whistle sound( i guess i also have a pair of em,somewhere around, but i really cannot play them :( ) ...apart from Corrs songs, Fairytale of New York and The Fields of Athenry i don't know much IrishMusic....
