Techie Breakie : Mobile Apps

The auction giant eBay recently conducted a small, informal experiment for the App Store’s fifth anniversary, to see whether people could survive happily without apps.

Out of the 200 frequent app users eBay asked to abstain for four days, a third weren’t able to make it. Apparently one of the participants even compared it with quitting smoking! The test proved that using apps makes people significantly happier and calmer.

It is this theme that we are focussing on for September's Techie Breakie, covering all types of Mobile applications - if you have developed an App that you'd like to share, have an idea for one, or are interested in finding out more about mobile apps and the latest discoveries, please do come along and share your ideas.

We're excited to announce that we're holding this event in Bath's new fabulous Coworking space at the Guildhall which had it's soft launch last week. It's a great space and will be the perfect place to hold the monthly Techie Breakies.

Check it out at:-

(Entry is on the High Street, opposite TK Maxx)

As usual these events are extremely popular so please sign up soon to get a place!

For those on the wait list a few of us who missed out will meet at the innovation centre for a coffee and chat about mobile apps at 0815. No cost so bring your own Cheese Twist with you. In the spirit of Bath Spark we want these Breakies to be small enough to share experience, the early ones we organised at Jika were unmanagle for networking so I thought it would be a good idea to have an extra session in parallel tomorrow with so many people wanting to join the apps session. It's not a splinter cell just an add on for those that were not quick enough. I would like to share some recent experience with Bardowl on app advertising and would like to chat with others on their experience of developing and marketing apps. We can compare notes after.

Very useful, in fact I've just made a change to an Android app based on some of the comments! Also interesting to see the very different approaches that are being tried out locally.

Interesting discussions - especially on business models for app monetization. Would be interested in hearing more from anyone with experience developing non-native apps.
