Here's the plan:
We'll hike under the full moon to our destination at the lake and there we'll share dinner & vino, and enjoy the beautiful moon and the moonlit landscapes. I love being out during this time because of the way the landscape is lit and everything has such a unique feel.
It's said that the werewolves are known to roam on full moon nights, so protection is always an issue on these hikes. Did someone mention silver bullets? We don't need no stinking bullets!
And don't even think of bringing your Howling Wolf recordings!
This hike is definitely not for the faint of heart, so
Bring your sense of adventure!
What To Bring:
VINO (and cups)~ A hike is not complete w/out vino, so let's start there. Bring the bottle of your choice - something nice of course!
FOOD ~ Dinner and snacks. Sky's the limit, just use your imagination. Cheese and crackers, sandwiches, burritos, pasta, salads, hot soup, hot tea? Just bring enough to share, as that's part of the fun.
Flashlight, or headlamp. We want to see the trail and I don't want hikers stumbling off into the night never to be seen or heard from again! I almost lost a hiker the last time we tried this. ;-)
A Blanket. We'll decide at the trailhead how many blankets we want.
Warm clothes, and decent shoes for walking/hiking.
$5 admin fee for this hike - thx!
Directions:
GPS 38.437859,-122.655187
From Hwy 101 take Hwy 12 East and when it hits the street, keep going straight about 2 miles 'till it Tees at Summerfield Dr. Turn Right there and go 3 blocks and turn Left on Carissa, which you'll follow up the hill to the clearing and park there.
Need I mention your sense of humour is required?
Come expecting a good time, bring your good attitude, along w/ your willingness to laugh and encourage others.
Chas, good meeting you today on the tunnels snowshoe (or not) hike!
I'm tentative for this moonlight hike. I've a BIG ride the following day and don't want to use up too much energy. How long (distance wise) is this hike? Flat, rolling, severe climbing? Poison oak, or ticks?
Thanks.

So sorry I couldn't make it and just tell you all now. I was stuck on a shoot for work with no cell reception. I hope you had a wonderful time and I really hope to make the next full moon adventure.

Is anyone leaving from Palo Alto or San Francisco who would like to car-pool w/ Patricia?
She can drive a zip car, butI is new to the area so we will need to trust the GPS a lot if she is driving. The adventure begins earlier in that case!
Contact me and I'll put you in contact w/ her. - Thx!
