It's Time To Hike Beneath The Full Moon!

Here's the plan:

We'll hike under the full moon to our destination at the lake and there we'll share dinner & vino, and enjoy the beautiful moon and the moonlit landscapes.  I love being out during this time because of the way the landscape is lit and everything has such a unique feel.  Total distance is 3 miles.

I've been watching the Underworld trilogy to learn more about vampires and how to combat them.  Seems the moonlight doesn't affect them, so I'll do my very best to protect everyone, but no guarantees.   Just remember, we don't need no stinking bullets!

Be sure to bring your sense of adventure and fun!

What To Bring:

VINO (and cups)~ A hike is not complete w/out vino, so let's start there.  Bring the bottle of your favourite - something nice of course!

FOOD ~ Dinner and snacks. Sky's the limit, just use your imagination. Cheese and crackers, sandwiches, burritos, pasta, salads, hot soup, hot tea?  Just bring enough to share, as that's part of the fun.

Flashlight, or headlamp. We want to see the trail and I don't want hikers stumbling off into the abyss .  Last month we lost a hiker to a savage man eating newt.  It was bloody awful!

A Blanket. We'll decide at the trailhead how many blankets we want.  They come in handy when it's cool out.

Warm clothes, and decent shoes for walking/hiking.

$5 admin fee for this hike - thx!

This hike is posted on several sites, so this will be a good opportunity to make new friends.

From Hwy 101 take Hwy 12 East and when it hits the street, keep going straight about 2 miles 'till it Tees at Summerfield Dr. Turn Right there and go 3 blocks and turn Left on Carissa, which you'll follow up the hill to the clearing on the left and park there.  Carissa will turn to the left, which is at the trailhead.

Need I mention your sense of humour is required?

Come expecting a good time (would I lead you into anything else?), bring your good attitude, along w/ your willingness to laugh and encourage others.

It sounds like fun and a good opportunity to meet new people. It's just a bit of a drive for me..and kind of late to get started. Is there a trail head near? I take it the place doesn't have any lights..hence the recommendation to bring headlamps? ..still considering! :)

No lights whatsoever! This a wonderful park where you get out in the woods.

Chas, I have had some great hikes going up to top of hills above Bear Valley in Pt. Reyes to watch Sunset on beach and then hike down to Bear Valley and have dinner at Reyes Cafe (Pizza). This might be fun sometime.

Good suggestion, Doug. Will probably do this one in a couple months.
