View To A Thrill: Samuel P. Taylor 9-10 miles

If you haven't done this one yet, you owe it to yourself!

Spectacular views up top and a perfect lunch spot.  On the way up there we might head over to a waterfall, so plan on a vino/snack break along the trail.

The hike has a gradual elevation gain of 1,600' and the difficulty level is moderate to strenuous.

This is a fun hike that takes in plenty of different scenery and views.  We'll start in the lower lush region of the park that has a beautiful canopy, then head for the higher regions to the top of Barnaby Peak.  The trail we take is fairly gradual, so virtually anyone can make it to the top. Spectacular views up top and a perfect lunch spot.  On the way up there we might head over to a waterfall.  Plan on a vino/snack break along the trail, so be prepared.

Plan on spending the entire day - in other words, no pub crawls that night.   This is an incredibly beautiful park, and we'll see a lot throughout the day.

What To Bring:

Vino! (and cups)

Good Hiking Boots/shoes

Layered clothing, hat, sunscreen, insect repellent

2 liters of cold water (1/2 fill and refrigerate, then top w/ ice in the a.m.)

Vino/Snacks for our pre-lunch break during the hike

Potluck Lunch ~ Food and more food -  (dried fruit/nuts/seeds, chips, dips, salsa, wraps, cut up sandwiches, meats/cheeses/braeds/crackers, deserts - be creative!)

Drinks, drinks, drinks!

If you've been on any of my hikes you know what to expect - so be prepared for fun!

$5 activity fee

Your sense of humour is an absolute must!

Driving directions:

GPS [masked],[masked]

1. Take 101 North to exit 450B toward San Anselmo

2. Merge onto Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

3. Slight left to stay on Sir Francis Drake 19.2 mi

4. Turn right onto Ca-1 North/Sir Francis Drake Blvd.

Drive approx 1&1/4 miles past the park entry (and just past the road for Devil's Gulch) and park in the small lot on the left side of the road.  Parking is extremely limited, so please park tightly and carpool if possible.

If coming from the North the parking area will be on your right, prior to reaching the park entry.

Naturally you'll meet new people, as this is posted to several Meetup grps.
