42 Mile Ride Through The Beautiful Wine Country

These pics are very typical of what you'll see on this ride.

Naturally there will be some vino stops.

This will be a beautiful ride through three of the premier wine growing regions of Sonoma County.  There's really no time here when the scenery is not gorgeous!

The Plan:

We'll ride over Chalk Hill Rd into Alexander Valley, where we'll stop for a snack and do some tasting at one of the wineries.

Then we'll ride over to Dry Creek Valley, making a stop at one of my favourite wineries (no, I'm not telling) where we'll have lunch on their beautiful grounds (bring your own - lunch that is).

From there we'll ride through the Dry Creek region, crossing into the Russian River Region and over the Russian River (great photo op), and then back to Windsor.

This will be a full day of fun, and at times challenging riding, with a chance to see some amazing Sonoma County vineyards and country scenery!

PLEASE NOTE:  Because of the length and nature of this ride I will need an email from you when you RSVP telling me your experience and riding level (current riding, how often, distance, terrain, pace) ~ Thx!

What To Bring:

Snacks, water, a lunch, and your camera (there will be some great country shots on this ride).

Wear: Sunscreen, layered clothing, your helmet.

I pack a few fruit bars and at least one sandwich for lunch.  We'll be passing a deli, so if anyone wants to stop and pick up a sandwich to bring w/ them - no problem.

$5 activity fee

Preparation:

Fill your tires the day/eve before.

Have your bike tuned and in good shape.

Getting out for a couple nice rides before this one (on your own if necessary) would help.

A repair kit (optional, though always suggested - at least a spare tube is highly recommended). I'll have a pump.

As always, your sense of humour is required!

This ride is posted on other Meetup sites and will be a good chance to meet other riders.

Hi Chas! My email address is [masked]. I couldn't see yours. I plan on coming. I will be driving and have room for one more (person + bike). The car isn't exactly luxury, but it works! I live around 24th and Potrero in SF. Email or text if you want a ride -[masked] 7934. (But you might have to help me put on a bike rack :)

This sounds great. How many hours does it take for 42 miles? Google says a bit more than an hour! Is that right?

Hi Katrin, You must have Googled for driving. This is an all day ride w/ a couple winery stops. The 2nd winery stop is tasting and lunch. Please send me an email saying how often you ride, where (hills?), and your avg pace. This ride is moderate, for distance and hills.
