How about a sail to Angel Island for a BBQ?
Sailing there is fun and who doesn't like a BBQ??
There is limited space on the boat!! Please read the whole posting and e-mail me if you want to go!! That is the only way to reserve a spot!
We set sail out of Berkeley - I'll e-mail you all the details if you want to go!
I am a licensed United States Coast Guard Master 50 GRT's and a registered US Sailing instructor. A moonlight sail isn't a sailing lesson but it can be a great start to seeing how great sailing can be.
There is nothing like being powered by the wind in one of the most beautiful places in the world. It is an amazing experience to feel a fairly large wooden boat (over 40 feet) gliding (or charging if it is windy!) across the water with only the wind for power. No motor, just the wind and the waves and wood under your hands.
I sail for a living these days and it is as sweet as it sounds! A lot of folks come from MeetUp and I thought this group might be interesting in trying sailing!
We'll meet at 10am and get to Angel Island for a sunny afternoon BBQ and we should be back to the dock in Berkeley around 4 or 5pm.
Remember though that we will be sailing so sometimes we have to accommodate the conditions!
I would go to Angel Island every day if I could!
The head or bathroom aboard Feral is called 'The Bucket'. There are clean bathrooms in the marina. It's not a super long sail so you can probably hold it. But I've noticed that as soon as one person uses The Bucket lots of people get comfortable with it. (Guys use the big bucket over the side...)
There are also bathrooms at Angel Island.

Notice there are some wet folks in some of those pictures! There are some very windy days - that isn't too unusual! The peeps who stay in the cockpit usually don't get wet but it is still best to bring water proof pants and a raincoat if you have them - ski clothes if you don't!
$75 and please bring food to bbq and wine / drinks to share. Bring burgers or whatever you want to share with the group. The $75 donation is on a sliding scale for folks who would happily give the full donation but for whatever reason can't do that right now. Please e-mail me if the donation is an issue. Sailing is a basic human right!
For sure wear clothes. Warm clothes. Even on the warmest days it is still chilly out on the water. Bring layers and something water and wind proof if you have it. Ski clothes are an excellent option.
There is plenty of room down below to stow extra gear. It has been warm enough to shed down to shorts and t-shirts so bring those too!
Bring non-marking shoes!!
I'll bring charcoal and things for the bbq - you just bring yourselves and some grub to bbq and some to share (and all those warm clothes I keep telling you about!)
