Freethinkers at Large - w/ Sean Faircloth/Dawkins/make America secular

New meetup: Bay Area Humanists/Skeptics/Freethinkers

http://www.meetup.com/Bay-Area-Humanists-Skeptics-Freethinkers-at-Large/

We are Social Flux for humanists, skeptics, freethinkers in the San Francisco Bay Area, starting in Silicon Valley/San Jose! Read more about us in our About page at the link above.

Tonite is our first meetup and we will have, by chance, a visit from Sean Faircloth, working with Dawkins, to return America to a secular government.

I know it's late notice but ... it is what it is.

Read below to find out more about Sean's visit and how we'll organize the meetup.

Come for any and all that interests you.

MORE about Sean Faircloth's visit and how we'll run this meetup:

By some neat stroke of luck, we will be joined by Sean Faircloth who will mention his plan (involving Richard Dawkins) to return America to a secular government.

This will be our first meetup and we don't have speakers or a main topic for discussion. We will all have a chance to describe why we're attending this meetup, what we hope to get out of it as well as share whatever events and groups we know of that we think others may be interested in. After that, we can choose to hear more about Sean's plan.

You can watch the video here:

Read more about the plan here:

www.SecularityUSA.org  I found it hard not to get excited about it as I read it.

It was so worth the almost hour drive from Danville to Mountain View to meet and listen to Sean Faircloth. Enjoyed meeting all the other freethinkers in attendance as well. Thank you Laura for organizing this meet-up.

You're welcome, Bonnie. I'm glad you made it, really good to meet you and talk with you. It was a great crowd - good synergy across all the different groups. Great to hear about Sean's worthy project.

We'll continue meeting to keep the social flux happening. If you can't be there in person, maybe we can have you there via phone or skype.

Because of a private party at Red Rock Coffee, we are meeting at Yoog gelato at 260 Castro. Same block as Red Rock, across the street, away from that intersection a bit. Don't cross any side streets.

Meeting has moved to 191 Restaurant. Located at 191 Castro. Across from Red Rock Coffee.

I was recruited by meetup member Tom Manger to join Secularity USA as a volunteer. I read Sean Faircloth's Book, "Attack of the Theocrats" when it came out and was very impressed. I'd love to meet him, but Mountain View is a little far. Is he appearing elsewhere in the Bay Area? I could be convinced to go to MV if I can arrange a carpool from Berkeley/Oakland.

We're working to bring him to Palo Alto but that doesn't help you much. Maybe others have info on carpooling or future appearances.
