SF Atheists March Meeting - Dr. Richard Carrier "Hitler Homer Bible Christ"

Dr. Richard Carrier "Hitler Homer Bible Christ"

While awaiting the imminent publication of 'On the Historicity of Jesus', we welcome back Dr. Richard Carrier,

who will talk about his newly published anthology, 'Hitler Homer Bible Christ: The Historical Papers of Richard Carrier[masked]'. This work contains essays and academic papers on subjects including: what purpose historians serve in society, how history can actually be an experimental science, exposing bogus Hitler quotes, and demonstrating that some early non-Christian references to Jesus are fake. Dr. Carrier will also talk about how he was independently funded to research and write about how the Gospels contradict each other on dating the year of Christ's birth, how we know the ending of Mark is a forgery, and other topics, including future research now going on in Sweden due to Carrier's journal publication of his results on those bogus Hitler quotes.

Richard's talk with be followed by Q&A, and his book will be available for signing and sale for $20 (cash, check, or credit card accepted). The book is also available in audio and Kindle editions.

After the meeting, we'll join the author for food and drinks in the pub. Cash donations will be collected to help us with room rental costs. You are welcome to bring beverages purchased from the pub upstairs.

Is anyone driving over? Might I hitch a ride? There will be showers throughout the remainder of the day and I don't want to get my fur wet :oP

Hey folks, Dave Mack, Bible geek and Richard Carrier fan, is looking for a lift: "Request for a ride from Pinole in East Bay (or car & BART combination). If anyone will be going west to this event along the I-80 corridor (and also attending the dining afterwards), I will help pay for a ride and meal as I am now age 71 and mostly blind and do not get out much these days. I live very close to the freeway in the On the Hill townhome development above Collins Elementary School. Many thanks for any assistance!"

If you can help, I'll put you in touch. Thanks!

Update--Dave is now down with a cold, so will not to be able to attend after all. Thanks anyway!

I am glad to have joined this group. Atheism and humanism hold great appeal and make sense to me even though my knowledge is fairly lacking. I hope to learn.
