This month Atheist Advocates of SF presents atheist author Dale DeBakcsy speaking on his fight against the Good News Clubs' incursion into his kids' public school in Castro Valley.
Since 2001, the Child Evangelism Fellowship has succeeded in invading the American public education system with over 3500 Good News Clubs - after school programs that use public facilities to train children as young as 6 how to pressure other children into joining. In their training manuals, they refer to non-Christian children as "Spiritually Dead" and stress the tactical use of guilt to compel kids to "harvest" their friends, and yet there is no legal recourse when they decide to set up shop in a new school and teach children to regard their fellow classmates as sub-human.
Three years ago, they came to two schools in the Castro Valley School District. In this talk, Dale DeBakcsy, a regular contributor to American Atheist Magazine, Skeptical Inquirer, Free Inquiry, and The New Humanist, and Castro Valley resident with two children in the district, will talk about the fight against the Good News Club's incursion, what worked, what didn't, and how to prevent them from spreading.
