It's President's Weekend and a holiday on Monday for many. Maybe you can scramble last minute and join myself and two of my Sierra Club girlfriends! The weather is clear and beautiful for the weekend! THERE ARE THREE SPOTS AVAILABLE!!!!
Day One, Saturday, leave 2 cars at the Palomarin Trailhead at 9:00 am and head to the Bear Valley Visitor Center where we'll get our permit and begin hiking the 5.5 miles to Coast Camp site #1. We can explore the surrounding woods at Mt. Wittenberg, and then check out Sky Camp on the way to Coast Camp. Once we've pitched our tents, there will be time to explore the beaches and see the tide pools :) Low tide is around 2-3pm, so this is perfect for our timing.
Day Two, we will head towards Wildcat Camp heading south along the Coast Trail with excellent beach combing and photo opportunities at Sculpture Beach and Arch Rock. This will be a 9 mile day. Set-up and finish off the day at Wildcat Camp.
Day Three, Monday, a holiday for some, pack up and explore Alamere Falls, Pelican and Bass Lakes and make our way back to the cars at Palomarin Trailhead. The 2 cars there can shuttle the rest of us back to Bear Valley Visitor Center where the other 2 cars will be (25 minutes). After a nice rest stop, it'll be time to head home!
For those that may need to leave on Sunday, we can leave your cars at the Bear Valley Visitor Center. You can swing back around that way to pick them up. You'll go south to Arch Rock with those of us continuing on to Wildcat campt, but then you'll head north the last 4-5 miles up the Bear Valley Trail to the Visitor Center where you're cars will be waiting.
Hopefully we'll all be able to do the three day trip, for those who aren't able to, there is the above alternative.
Let me know if you can join me! Three spots available!
