The Tuesday night Social Ease lesson and Beginners dance are aimed specifically toward the novice dancer. The atmosphere is more casual, the somewhat smaller group means a less crowded dance floor, and the selection of music focuses on those dances that are most accessible to the beginner.
There is always a lesson beforehand from 7:30 - 8:15 that is more of an entry level class that they call "Social Ease", meant to make newcomers feel more comfortable with some of the basic aspects of that week's chosen dance.
After the lesson, stick around for the Beginners Social dance from 8:15 to 9:00. This is a great chance to practice what you've learned as well as meet and dance with other beginners. Additionally, there are always a few instructors on hand who are always happy to dance and help you through those initial learning steps.
The cost is $7 for the lesson and $5 for the dance, so only $12 for both. It's a great way to get started with ballroom in a friendly, social environment.
