I was awed by Midnight's Children, but would re-read Pride & Prejudice for fun. Frankenstein sits beside The BFG on my bookshelf, and I read the Life of Pi and Cloud Atlas more than 6 years ago (yes, before they were trendy!) I love the tough prose of Hemingway and Cormac McCarthy, but cried solidly throughout the last 30 pages of The God of Small Things. I re-read Catcher in the Rye almost immediately after finishing it for the first time, and Catch-22 was the last book to make me laugh out loud.
Contemporary fiction that deals with life, love, and the human condition, through comedy or drama and preferably both, as well as classics that carry similarly enduring themes.
Hiking, movies, travel, writing, going on adventures with my husband, camping, trying new things, cake, yoga, taking pictures of our cat, crosswords, scuba diving, spending time with friends and family.
My first book club! I've been looking for one just like this and, like every great novel, I'm excited to see where it leads.
