Been backpacking for many years - lot of the CA & OR PCT, lot of Yosemite, Mt Whitney 3 times, thru hiked the AT in 95; Grand Canyon; Yellowstone, Tetons, climbed Kilimanjaro in 08;. Usually able to get at least 7 to 10 days a year, usually solo but do enjoy company with like minded backpacking folks. Most of my trips are shuffling about the Sierras with Yosemite as one of my favorite places. My current goal is to pack lighter.
Nice trip out of Dana Meadows, over Mono Pass (first night to acclimate); Parker Pass, Koip Pass to Alger Lakes (2nd & 3rd night) continue on to Gem Lake (4th night), out over Donohue Pass down Lylle Canyon (fifth night someplace in canyon) back to Tuolome Meadows and take shuttle bus back to the car at Dana Meadows. About 5 nights with one layover day - or 4 nights without a layover day. Koip is over 12,000 ft but Alger Lake is gorgeous and worth the work. Average 7-10 miles/day
Hi I'm Linda Ramus, recently retired . Beside backpacking and hiking, enjoy cross-fit training and bike riding, Swedish mystery novels, classical music and jazz and a good baseball game or play.
Really enjoyed the people - we were on the same page as to how fast and how long we hiked and the importance of taking it all in
