Great America

Not exactly a bucket list item, but still could be a good way to thrill your way out of summer days :).

Ticket discount options: *** NOT sold out ***

Regular admission is $56, but you can purchase tics Mon-Fri at the Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce (in person only) for a nicely discounted rate of $35 (that's $21 off). Here's the SC city link referencing this:

http://www.santaclara.org/thingstodo/ticketsales.cfm

The Great America website also offers $10 off regular admission when you purchase online. And a season pass can be purchased online for just $56 (3 payments of $18.66). Here's the GA link:

Wear clothes/shoes that you don't mind getting wet, with pocket or fanny-pack that won't lose your valuables on rides. And something to keep your phone dry (ziploc). Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, and probably a hat.

Not sure how peeps will be meeting up. Maybe based on arrival time and/or whether you'll be riding coasters. ~ David

It was fun guys! We'll have to do it again. There's still half a park left to discover.

    So... how many actually attended?

Parked @ Techmart. Walking up now.

Parking is $15. I'm parking at the Techmart, which is free but a bit of a hike.

How much is parking? And I never carry cash. Should I grab some?

The front gate is the obvious place to meet. I'm 6.2" and I'll be wearing a bright red jacet. My housemate may have a meetup sign.

Good question - where are we meeting?

I hope you guys have fun tomorrow. As David T. mentioned, the original host can't make it now. But it looks like you guys got it under control. Dont forget to take photos so I can upload them. Have fun!

So who's actually going? The original host commented she's out, but stayed signed up with a guest? There's at least one maybe, a lot of quiet peeps, and like 4 that have said they have a season pass. It feels like 6-7 will show up but not recognize each other.
    !!!!!!!!!! So... who's actually going tomorrow? !!!!!!!!!!

Yaaa! Got my ticket. First time here. Being from FL, and having Disney, Universal, and Busch Gardens in my backyard, it'll be fun to experience a totally new park.

They were sold out. They got a new batch in today.

*** Attention *** The SC Chamber of Commerce is NOT sold out!!! They still have tics, $35 each, no tax. I called ahead, went there, got mine, and asked if they had at least 10 more. The nice lady looked at me like of course they do. But they are only open Mon-Fri till 5pm. Go to 1850 Warburton Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95050. You pay $35 and receive a pass that admits one adult at the GA gate. It's good for any day during the 2012 season. Or buy online $46, or get a season pass online $56.

BK, if you can't find a ride, note that it is possible to reach Great America by transit. Take Caltrain to Mountain View. Transfer to VTA Light Rail. Light rail has a stop at Tasman and Great America.

I really want to come but still looking for someone who is driving from San Francisco.

    May 24, 2012

  • Eric E

How many people are actually coming? I notice the comments go back to January.

With a high of barely 70 degrees, I think it will be too cold for Boomerang Bay. How about we meet near the gate at the prescribed time?

    May 24, 2012

  • Eric E

Santa Clara Chamber of Commerce is sold out. They don't expect to get more tickets until next week. That leaves the $45 online ticket as the best known deal (or $56 for the season pass).

Anyone driving from San Francisco? Can we carpool?

    May 21, 2012

  • Kat

I'm pretty sure Boomerang Bay in Great America opens that day, too - so if you bring a swimsuit there will be even more fun to be had. ;) Besides, if you're planning on riding the log ride or the rafting ride, you can count on getting wet anyway. I'd recommend wearing sandals that are secure (no flip flops) and bringing a sealable plastic baggie for your phone and money.

I decided to start Reno Motorcycle Riders Group because I wanted to be part of a group of people who enjoyed my passion... I was excited and nervous. Our group has grown by leaps and bounds. I never thought it would be this big.
