A Bucket List item that you want to cross off doesn't always have to be something from YOUR list! Volunteering is something that I've always done and wanted to share that with you guys if it may spark an interest!
I know that we all have a full plate with our busy lives, so if you can't do volunteer now, there is always a chance to join in later! But because I will be doing this in October, thought I'd just share in case you were interested.
In the past I've ran 5ks for the Livestrong Foundation, gathered up coats for the homeless with the One Warm Coat Foundation, gave toys to homeless kids with Project Night Night, been a cabin leader for YMCA, & since 2003, I've worked with the US Marine Corp Reserves for the Toys for Tots Foundation which I still do now.
My newest foundation that I have decided to volunteer with is the Make-A-Wish Foundation. I am sure we have all heard of it. It is a foundation where children that have life-threatening illnesses like cancer can make a wish and the organization ensures that it comes true while they are still living. Some examples that the organization has done are - helping a boy go to Disneyland, a girl being a princess for a day, one kid wanted to be a police officer, one wanted to be a cowboy for a day, one wanted to be a Star wars character for a day, many wanted to meet their favorite athlete, etc. - the wishes are endless and it's anything a kid can dream of - and the Make-A-Wish Foundation makes sure it becomes a reality.
If you are interested in this gratifying Bucket List item, they will be having a Volunteer Orientation in Sunnyvale on October 03, 2012 at 6pm. If you RSVP yes, I will just need your email so I can send it to the Volunteer Coordinator at the Make-A-Wish Foundation so you can receive specific volunteer information.
Here's the link about this wonderful organization and others I am involved in & the video of Dylan getting his "Star Wars Weekend" wish! :)
