It turns out, I'm not gonna be able to make it. Heading on a long trip tomorrow, and I really need the time. :(

I was super excited to go, though, hope it's a blast! :)

A couple more questions. Thanks for answering patiently :-) what kind of shoes are you wearing? Are you carrying a day pack and a dry pack? How many litres? How cold will the water be? I was thinking of a rashguard and shorts only. So wondering if I will be warm enough in the water

This is the pack that I carry.

wow. this stuff sounds professional. :)
thanks for answering all my questions!

I am gonna wear old running shoes that are not waterproof - don't have ankle support. I also got a dry pack - 13 litres that I was going to fill with water bottles and some energy bars, sunscreen, hat and sunglasses. But the dry pack doesn't have straps, I was going to wear my life vest & just attach the dry pack to it. Wouldn't it be uncomfortable to hike with the inner tubes all filled to capacity?

I will be bringing a hand pump to the trail head. All can use that to fill up. No need to buy.

Gokul, would a waterproof sandal (ie Keen H2 closed toe) suffice rather than packing hiking shoes for the land portion?

Hey Gokul, I have a couple questions and would be better to discuss. [masked]-8086. Thanks

I bought an inner tube but it takes forever to fill up without a pump. How is everyone else doing it?

Gokul - can someone with no experience canyoneering do this? I am not a swimmer - would that be ok?

Thanks Gokul. I'll check out Big5 and Sports Authority for lifejacket and innertube or pool toy. How would you rate the hike part?

      August 1

    • Gokul R.

The hike has an elevation gain of 800ft but is on a well maintained fire road.
The swim or float is approx 1 mile. Also, should expect a continuos stretch of 300ft floating with no place in the side to stand.

How 'difficult' would you say this is? It sounds *fantastic*, but I've never walked up a stream before :)

You're not going to float/hike all the way down to the parking lot in the river? I'll be there the next weekend.

Aug 9-10 is the weekend of Persied Meteor shower and I will be camping.
